Here are some simple exercises you can do to start with.
Cardiovascular Exercises:
1. Walking
- Walking is the simplest, cheapest and easiest form of cardiovascular exercise.
- It is the best starting point for anyone who is just starting to
exercise. - It is very low impact and is extremely convenient.
- Start slowly, then gradually work up to walking longer and faster.
- Finding a walking partner can help keep you motivated.
2. Jogging/Running
- This is a step up from walking. It is harder and puts more impact and stress on the body.
- If you are just starting an exercise program, work through fast walking before moving up to jogging.
3. Cycling
- Riding a bike is an excellent, no-impact form of cardio.
- Be sure to follow the rules of the road and ALWAYS wear a helmet.
4. Swimming
- Swimming involves all the major muscles of the body.
- It is no-impact and is very useful for injury recovery
- The major drawback is that you must know how to swim.

SATURDAY (yesterday *ahem!*) - 40 minutes walking on my new treadmill. YAY! Did just under 2 miles (1.9).
10 minutes floor stretching for my poor ol' back.
Will report today's PT activities later!

6 lengths swimming (Olympic sized pool- think that is 1/4 mile), my shoulders hurt!!
3 mile walk/run outside, 40 minutes. Bested my treadmill workout, and here I thought I'd be slower outside..
Six hours of skiing -- man did my legs BURN! That's it. No more time off. Three weeks is definitely TOO long to fall out of a physical routine.
When I asked one of the trainers in the studio I workout in whether she had a good Christmas, she said she hates Christmas because it it too long and too commercial and people get off their good routines, both eating and physical activity.
I couldn't say a word...
Workout 5/25
Outdoor hike through the snow. The snow ended up being a bit deeper than I thought and I should have worn snowshoes. I was definitely winded by the end.
Time: Hour and a half.
SUNDAY
40 minutes on treadmill, varying paces/speeds, moderate incline.
Today - simple floor exercises. But hey, that's better than nothing. In the am - it's off to the gym for a serious run and weights.
